Thief on the Cross is a harsh noise project that originated out of Midlothian, Texas in the United States. The project began in early 2018, created by Aaron Kirby of Ascending King, Frostbreath, and Unblack Metal Fist.[1]

History[]

Thief on the Cross began in early 2018 as a way for Aaron Kirby to express a different side of music, as a side project of Ascending King. Due to it being a side project of Ascending King, the project signed with Nosral Recordings.

The project released its debut album, Waiting In Psychosis For The Great Return, via Nosral on February 7, 2018.[2] On August 30, 2018, the band released a split album with Frostnoise, one of Kenneth Holsen of Nattesorg's projects, titled Calibration of Repented Hearts.

In 2019, the project would add Solomon Kane on Guitars to record a sophomore album, titled Understanding, Absolution, Solace, which would be released through Nosral Recordings on January 24, 2019.[2] The band would be featured on a noise compilation alongside Frostnoise, Thundertrance, and Cryptic Rising.[3]

Later that year, the band's label would go out of business due to it not being financially viable any longer.[4]
