The Mourning Dimension was a doom and drone metal project that formed out of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma in the United States. The project was created in 2009 by Dave Coats, also known for Faithless Minutes Devoured, Within the Torn Apart, and Crust.

History Edit

The Mourning Dimension was created in 2009 by Dave Coats, formerly of Within the Torn Apart.[1] The project signed with Barren Meadows Recordings, who had signed Coats' previous band as well. Through the label, the band released three releases, two albums - ...Has Opened and Shadows Creeping Across the Mind - and an EP titled ...Is Opening, all in 2010.[2]

The band went independent in 2011 and would release their next two albums on their own. Ascending the Cold Skies (A Farewell to Mourning) and Traversing Through Realms (A Tribute to Horror) were both released by the band on their own.[2] In 2013, the band signed with Sanctus Gladius Records - home to Forfeit Thee Untrue, O, Majestic Winter, and Armath Sargon - and released In Mourning through the label.[3] Following its release, the band put out a split album between them and Happiness and Something Psychotic.[2] In 2015, the band disbanded but released a self-titled compilation before doing so, independently.[4]
