Luti-Kriss was a metalcore band that originated out of Atlanta, Georgia in the United States. The band originated in 1997 with the lineup of Vocalist Josh Scogins, Guitarists Scottie Henry and Chris Day, Bassist Josh Swofford, Keyboardist Mick Bailey, and Drummer Daniel Davison. However, in 2001, the band would switch names to Norma Jean.
History
Luti-Kriss began in 1997 out of Atlanta, Georgia in the United States.[1] The band was created by Josh Scogins on Vocals, Scottie Henry on Lead Guitars, Chris Day on Rhythm Guitars, Josh Swofford on Bass, Mick Bailey on Keyboards, and Daniel Davison on Drums. In 1999, the band released a split with Travail.[2] The album came out through Pluto Records, who had been home to bands such as As I Lay Dying, Mindrage, and Society's Finest. A year later, the band released an EP, titled 5ep.[2][3] Swofford would depart from the band, with Josh Doolittle taking his place.[4]
In 2001, the band released two split samplers with Zao and The Blamed respectively.[2] After the releases, the band debuted a studio album, Throwing Myself, which was produced by Jesse Smith of Zao.[5] Following the album's release, Bailey departed from the band.[6] In order for there to be a lack of confusion between them and the fellow Georgia resident and Rapper Ludacris, the band changed their name to Norma Jean.[7]
