Benjamin Mitchell Bertman (born January 5, 1970), best known as Jamie Mitchell, is an American musician that began his musical career in the mid 80s. Mitchell was best known for his performance in the punk rock and hardcore punk band Scaterd Few. Mitchell also performed with Bad Brains Vocalist H.R. in the band Human Rights, Transultra, Vengeance Rising, Applehead, and The Padded Cell.

History[]

Jamie Mitchell began his musical career in the punk rock band Scaterd Few, performing lead guitars for one of the first lineups of the band.[1] Mitchell replaced Ed Evans on guitars, performing on the band's debut album, Sin Disease.[2] Mitchell, as well as several other members of the band, were hired by H.R. of Bad Brains to perform in his band Human Rights, after playing some shows together, which impressed him.[1][3]

By 1992, he had left both Scaterd Few and Human Rights. At this time, he would record with Greg Minier of The Crucified on his other project, known as Applehead, which saw a more grunge approach to music rather than the crossover thrash that his prior band had performed.[2] He would also record on thrash metal band Vengeance Rising's fourth album titled Released Upon the Earth, which would also feature Victor Macias (Tourniquet), Jimmy P. Brown II (Deliverance), and Johnny Vasquez on bass, rhythm guitars, and drums respectively.[4][5] In 1994, Mitchell also began the band Transultra and would perfom with the band until 1997.[1][5]

After his musical career, he began working in the film industry, as an editor and post-production supervisor, working on films such as The Incredibles, Chicken Little, and Mulan II, while also working as a composer on The Mental Show and The Shield.[1][6] Mitchell would also receive a AOF/WAB Award for the Best Soundtrack Feature for the film "The Red Canvas" (2009) and also an "Action on Film Award" for the Best Action Sequence Martial Arts Feature for the film "The Red Canvas" (2009).[1]
