Renascent is a melodic death metal band that began in 2003 out of Helsinki, Finland in Europe. The band has released two albums and an EP.
History[]
Renascent was created in 2003 between Guitarist Eero Tertsunen and Drummer Jani Stefanovic. Keyboardist Mikaela Akrenius would also join the band shortly afterward.[1] The three hired on Bassist Voitto Rintala and would begin working on their debut release.[1] The four began recording their debut EP, Demon's Quest, which was released through Maanalainen Levykauppa.[2] During the summer of 2004, the band hired on Vocalist Barry Halldan. The following year, the band released their debut album, Through Darkness. After the album's release, Halldan and Stefanovic departed from the band, with the latter going on to form Miseration.[3]
Following their departures, the band hired Markus Saarela as their drummer. However, by 2007, Saarela had been out of the band. With Tertsunen, Akrenius, and Rintala, the band would continue pressing forward with the band. Around 2013, the band would record their next album, with the assistance of Rolf Pilve (Stratovarius, Essence of Sorrow) on drums. However, around 2014, the band employed Joonas Heikkinen as their drummer. The band would release their sophomore album, Praise to the Lord God Almighty, which was released independently on November 5, 2016.[4]
