Dawnbreaker is a blackened death metal project that originated out of New York City, New York in the United States. The project began in 2018 and was formed by Cullen Toner, who had previously worked in Anti-Christian bands before converting to Christianity.[1][2]
History
Dawnbreaker began in New York City, New York in the United States in the year 2018. The project was created by Cullen Toner.[3][4] The band would sign with New Templar Records, and release their debut album, Deus Vult, on May 25, 2018.[5] The band was compared to bands such as Ectovoid and Sammath.[6] On June 8, 2018 - about a week after the album's release - the project debuted a lyric video for the track "Vileness Exalted".[2] On December 28, 2018, the band was featured on a compilation released by The Bearded Dragon Productions, titled Hear My Voice!, with the track "To Jerusalem".[7]
On June 20, 2019, the project would sign with Christian Metal Underground Records, a subsidiary of Vision of God Records.[8] With the announcement of this, he would go on to reveal that there would be two albums released through the label.[8] On September 20, 2019, the band released their sophomore album, Total Depravity, through Christian Metal Underground.[9] The album received good reviews.[10][11]
